Re-gripping windsurfing booms is a skill I developed while working at MK Windsurfing (25 years). Windsurfers have sent me booms from every corner of the UK and I pride myself on returning them looking perfect again.
Customers have sent me such great comments about the service, I decided to create this dedicated website.
... so don’t sell it, re-grip it! It’s a really simple process (see below).

Can you recommend a courier service?
Many online couriers have a maximum parcel length of 1.5m but TransGlobalExpress take longer items and seem to be competitively priced.
After entering the parcel dimensions, you can select the best price from UPS, TNT, CityLink etc... Parcel can be tracked online.
Royal Mail are sometimes worth checking out too... (particularly for Channel Islands).
How much does shipping cost?
As a guide, TransGlobalExpress will charge about £15.00 for a wave boom (we charge the same for return shipping of this size boom).
Parcel size makes a big difference to cost, so try to reduce it to the minimum.
What about insurance?
To keep costs down, we only use the TransGlobalExpress basic cover of £50 (loss/damage).
Additional insurance is available when booking the courier at £5.00 per £250 cover.
In 25 years, the courier companies have never lost a boom, so it's probably only worth insuring in exceptional circumstances.
How should I package my boom?
Firstly, if you have added any tapes/adhesives to your boom to prevent the grip coming off, please remove them. Also, please remove harness lines and tailpiece (to reduce size/weight). We suggest packing the booms with bubble-wrap / cardboard (note: for insurance to be valid, 'double-walled' cardboard should be used).
How fast can you re-grip my boom?
Once we receive the boom, it is normally re-gripped within 24hrs but if a fast turnaround if critical, please call (01273 424131).
Sometimes we can regrip a boom same day if you're coming to Brighton for example. Please call for availability.
Can I drop the boom off at your workshop?
Yes - no problem. The address and map can be found here. If you are making a long journey, please call me before you set off.
There is a porch where customers leave booms (short-term) but recommend covering with a bin bag if valuable.
Can you part-grip a boom, leaving the original logo?
No, I'm afraid not. We put the arms in a bath which attacks the glue, so it's difficult to remove just a section. Also they never look as good part-gripped.
Do you stock original manufacturer's grips?
No, afraid there are too many brands/models/variations to attempt keeping stock. Ian at Boardwise often stocks a small number of NeilPryde grips. Otherwise, please contact the brand importer.
